And, just when the watch scandal distraction was wearing thin, the clever bastards come up with another little gem for keeping the press off their political progress.

Prayut must have paid top dollar to this concrete colossus to have him agree to this stunt, whilst he's getting the crowds loved up in Chanthaburi and other poverty-stricken provinces . . . the crafty blighter!

Yes unfortunately it is. In Feb 2013 the Word Wildlife Fund handed a a global petition with more than half a million signatures to then Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra calling for her government to ban the trade of ivory in Thailand but she never did. Yingluck responded by saying she recognised the importance of elephant conservation and would take the plea into consideration.

This is out of the ordinary. Has he or his company stepped on somebody's toes?

Hard telling bout that, but this is bound to take the heat off the junta for a few days.

Since the military took over bungs have gone from the usual acceptable 30% to around 50-60% and even higher.

Guaranteed that will have something to do with it. Many complaints in civil construction that the corruption and brown envelopes are becoming excessive and unacceptable.

No one wants to tender for any projects as a result.

This may be a way of the military to force his hand. Almost certainly bound to backfire, given their popularity is very low at the moment.

I do not believe you.  I dont believe "Since the military took over bungs have gone from the usual acceptable 30% to around 50-60% and even higher.".  I dont believe " No one wants to tender for any projects as a result.". Prove what you say or stop spreading malicious rumors, bar talk.
