Well my friend. The police do it hear all the time and it does not have to occur at daytime. It's anytime! As it is against the law to leave a child alone in a car under a certain age here, whether it be 10 minutes 1 hour etc. Which makes sense.

For example at night in Sydney it is well known that addicted Chinese gambles leave their kids in a car for hours whilst they go into the casino and gamble all night.Clearly there  would not be potential death from heat but the act of leaving a child unattended is unbelievable. So police have reason whether day or night to smash the widow

As far as your comment, regarding me," I suspect decisions making skills are lacking". So you think Aussie cops are lacking also? Or should they try to pick the car lock or find the idiot/heartless parent?

PS In Australia Yes a kid can die or be severely dehydrated, on a hot day here within 20 minutes or require medical attention.

It's shocking what described happens in Australia and good to know that the Police are readily prepared to handle such events.

Please note: This occurred at night, not in direct sunlight. Although it wasn't clearly mentioned in the post it is apparent that the engine was running and air-con was on (they were concerned that the car may be pushed into gear - although that would require longer legs to depress the brake pedal).

The father did not leave the child unattended in the car, he simply made a daft mistake and got out of the car, the child then locked the car. The father did not leave the scene.

The situation was resolved quickly, the car lock was picked by a locksmith within 20 mins and the door opened.

BUT: I now question your reasoning skills if you suspect I have made comment against Australian Police. Or is it that because you are an Australian Policeman (?) you believe this places your decision-making skills beyond question? An equally flawed argument may suggest that I have questioned the skill of all males, simply because you are male.

  • In my homecountry during summer the police would smash the window within a minute, a Benz or Ferrari or any car....and they don't even ask who the owner is cause he will get a fine for that anyway.

  • Dad of the year award for not smoking his smelly ashtray breath cancer sticks around his child. Bravo.

  • Clearly it's the mother's fault for being late.

No I'm not a cop.Part time employee of Thai Mafie. Better paying job!  I only used Aussie police as an example as I live here and was no indication of you inferring you may have insulted them! .

The father clearly left the keys in the car and running! I would never get out of a car whilst engine on and make sure keys in my hand if I had my kids in it who are smart enough to know "how to lock father out"!

What has sex got to do with it. Now that you mention sex, I'm a TS Thai Mafie employee.

I see this all the time, people happily spend multi millions of baht on a car but won’t spend 5000 baht on a child seat.

Stopping situations like this are just a side benefit of keeping your child safe by properly restraining them when they travel.

Stupid is as stupid does.

My niece is on the way to Bangkok right now.   Her friend asked her to buy a child seat (car seat here) before she left the U.S.

With the carry bag, that is about how much it cost to purchase.
