Boris Johnson jokes about British sex tourism in Thailand during major Brexit speech

Featured Replies

“the right deal on aviation and on visa-free travel” would allow Britons “ever more intensively to go on cheapo flights to stag parties in ancient cities”. So, was he not referring to the recent Cambodian (not Thai) charges against the photographed party at the acient city of Siem Reap?

In the mid 80's I found myself having to do point duty (directing traffic for the non Brits!) rather unexpectedly in a hostile environment in which my very presence was about as welcome as a fart in a space suit. To make light of the situation I donned a clowns nose that happened to be in my pocket & started doing semaphore.....

Half the drivers fell about laughing while the remainder hurled abuse or tried to run me over & did so along sectarian lines.

Fast Forward 30 years and the exact same is happening in this thread but this time the clown is Boris and the dividing line between humour or feigned offence depends entirely upon how we voted re B-B-B....

A troll post has been removed.

Another one too

Cos i stutter

To be serious the very mention of B-B-B(rexit) on these threads attracts a tsunami of sh1t which is why I jokingly skirt round it where possible.

S-S-Sorry!

I like Boris a lot, he is a real character, but I feel that other issues could also be addressed.

He should try and pull his tongue out and be more intune with what is really going on.

As a Brit living in Thailand, I know from experiences, the unfair treatment I've experienced, as have many other expats. What with the

visa regulations, two tear pricing, land / home ownership., business acquisition, plus many more unethical practises...

Im fully aware that I'm a guest, in The Kingdom, as are Thais in the U.K and many other countries,, but for one, I would  be interested to learn who benefits more?

Inequality springs to mind, which I personally feel is very obvious within the Kingdom, especially toward foreigners in general.

Just a thought.

Probably this pig was already here?

In other words it was an intended joke - that failed...?

Take a cue from Boris - he is an undoubted opportunist, but his 'jokes' generally work in his favour....

Which has (finally) made me realise how Boris gets away with his buffoon act!

Brits like to laugh at themselves and self-effacing comedy - and Boris has perfected this idiom (?) to suit his self-serving cause?

He is the absolute epitome of a man who is clearly intelligently smart, yet has the personality and the social skills of a goldfish.

And you obviously have no sense of humor

Why doesn't this moron stick to what he's good at and that is F...ING up the British economy

“Superb consular”? Pathetic joke

....And if he ever becomes PM he will F.... up alot more!

So maybe the Junta will ban all the British to solve that problem. Except the Hong Kong ones.

Unfortunately, people like Boris are a byproduct of the social justice warriors and the oversensitive PC brigades.

Folks have the right to be oversensitive when he comes out with flumadiddle such as "Our superb consular services". Where do we find those, then...?

Obviously there's an echo.

I struggle to see what is amusing about that charlatan.

You wouldn't know off the cuff humor if it poked you in the eye, off you trot.

such as....... white water rafting, full moon parties, wild nights on Khao San Road etc :)

That it was a major speech about Brexit yet Boris has got everyone talking about sex tourism is a masterstroke of political slight of hand.

That was exactly my thought as well, well said !

Boris would make an outstandingly good TV poster.

You would have thought the British Embassy would be up sizing because of Brexit

looking for more trade around the world

putting out the word open for Business

but No we are down sizing  what message does that send here in Thailand

There's no room.  That's where the British Embassy is moving to.
