Bangkok Declares War On Fried Banana Vendors (Again)

BANGKOK — Fried banana vendors and their customers in the old quarter are in trouble if the city makes good on threats to fine them.

 

To clean up the historic area of Rattanakosin Island, City Hall on said this week it would fine fried banana and potato vendors. A local police commander insisted Thursday that they always have.

Why are the news in Thailand so often like comedy?

- Police getting bribed with fried banana

- A customer can be fined for buying fried banana

Why are they picking on the fried banana vendors? There is a simple reason. All the problems that once plagued this nation have already been solved by the genius leader.

 

The great and benevolent leader has insured happiness. He is lowering unemployment. He is growing the economy. He is increasing tourism revenue. He is increasing exports. He is abiding by all of the terms of the ASEAN charters he signed, and allowing the duty free importation of all beer throughout ASEAN. They are on all of the supermarket shelves as we speak. We are not longer subject to the very low quality local beers. He is making visa policy easy, simple and streamlined, and all tourists are very happy about that. He is improving traffic and public safety. Corruption is being eliminated, and innocent fall guys are no longer getting charged for murder, and being put to death. The taxi mafia on Samui and Phuket have been eliminated, and tourists can now get a taxi at a fair price. Life is better for all now that this great man is demonstrating his genius and vision on a daily basis. All he cares about is the welfare of his own people, and the happiness of both tourists and the ex-pat community. He contemplates this day and night. 

Get the Police Chief in, it will be a public stunt number one to hunt down the nasty, nasty banana boys

The country is run by clowns!! 2000 bt fine for buying a banana.. Lol.... Yet 200 bt for no helmet on a bike!! I see they have their priorities right!!

Ha ha, unbelievable........ They're doing a kracking job of killing Thailand stone dead, i just wonder when the powers that be finally declare year zero and send us all out into Isaan to pick rice........( For the good of the people of course)........ What a shame........

Because Thailand is a big joke. They don't have problems like that in any other country in the region; not in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam... In none of those countries you will see people frying and selling food on public property as they please, without any licence, or safety precautions, polluting the environment, as long as they can bribe the local constabulary...

What's the matter with these vendors? Everyone knows you gotta have ice cream with fried bananas!

Glad the police and their overseers have this high on the priority list. They have certainly solved any other problem that would have superseded it. Nirvana is close...
