Nine killed in bus-pick-up crash

KHON KAEN: -- A Bangkok-bound passenger bus clashed head-on with a pick-up truck late Sunday night, killing eight people in the truck and a girl on the bus, police said.

The accident happened at 11:45 pm on the Mittraparp Road in Muang district.

Police said the air-conditioned bus was taking some 30 passengers from Buengkal district in Nong Khai to Bangkok when it crashed head-on with the pick-up truck.

The impact caused the truck to be struck under the bus.

All eight people in the truck died at the scene.

A nine-year-old girl on the bus died on her way to a hospital.

I wonder if the 9-year-old girl was sitting in "the death seat". This is the one from which you are catapulted through the front window of the bus.

I always avoid this seat on Bangkok buses.

More carnage on the roadways ...

to go along with the 17 (or 22 depending on the report) teachers killed in a Chiang Mai bus accident just last week.

so sad... :D

Still, I suppose the only bright spot was that there were only 8 in the

pick-up and not the 23 :o:D that were riding in one involved in an accident last year.
