Gambia’s Tourism Minister tells sex tourists to go to Thailand, not his country

In a brazen statement that will undoubtedly offend Thais, the Tourism and Culture Minister of African nation Gambia, Hamat Bah, addressed foreign tourists hoping to travel to the poor African country to engage in sex tourism. He told them to go to Thailand to get their jollies instead.

 

One person that did find their happy ending in Gambia however, is Asia’s former pest, big-legged beggar Benjamin Holst, who married his Gambian sweetheart and vowed never to return to Asia.

 

Apparently, winter season is high-time for tourism in Gambia and some of those visitors do go to the country for more than just the beaches.

Gambia’s Tourism Minister Hamat Bah has warned Western tourists, who are planning to travel to the impoverished West African nation during the winter season in search of sex tourism, to stay away from the country.

 

“We are not a sex destination. If you want a sex destination, you go to Thailand. The Gambia is not a sex destination. We are not, and please every Gambian must sing that song. 

 

We cannot afford to see this country to reall be brought to that level. We must protect and preserve this country,” Hamat Bah told Kerr Fatou, a show aired every Thursday on state media GRTS.

You can't buy that kind of brand recognition.

What about the Gambian guys messing with tourist women 2 x their age?

I always thought Gambia was the place to be fore white woman who were bored with non performing small white guys. 

 

Not exactly the people who would come to Thailand.

Western women will be crying if they can't go there.

The sex tourists who go to Gambia, Kenya, Madagascar  and Brazil, Venezuela, are looking for young girls, Thailand is too mainstream for them.

Many Gambian hookers do there trade in Sukumvit Soi 3,4,7.

Hamat Bah knows quite well, where his hookers are.

Wow and I was just about to click the "payment" button on the Gambian Airlines site to by a ticket to the lovely peaceful paradise that is West Africa......not!

I remember "The Gambia" very well. I went to Bathurst, a small coastal 'city' in Gambia back in the 60s/70s as a young matelot with the Royal Navy.

I don't like Drumfpt - but I can quite happily quote his, "A sh@thole of a country!"

Full of crappy little bars- complete with the ugliest of women with no manners, graces or social skills or sexuality.

1. I'm surprised that tourists actually go there.

2. I'm even more surprised that they would go there for the sex. You really wouldn't want to........

Maybe it has changed since those days, but I doubt it.

Again- Thais against the rest of the world. Just keep in mind your reputation as a hub of sex tourism and trade was not earned outside the country.

Gambia is for female sex tourism. The Minister has it all wrong. 3" just doesn't cut it.

Really this is a backhanded way of saying "Come to Gambia. We got sex for sale too!"

I was going to say that Gambia is known for its female sex tourists. Sending them to Thailand is not going to do anything for them or Thailand!
