Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the establishment of a panel to follow up on cases of criminals that have fled the country, Government Spokesperson Lt-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on Tuesday.

 

The PM did not mention any names, but assigned the Foreign Ministry to proceed with the committee’s establishment. 

 

Other concerned agencies, including the Department of Special Investigation, the Royal Thai Police and the Attorney General Office, will have to inform the public from time to time about how they have proceeded with the cases, and the progress they have made, Sansern said.

 

He quoted the premier as saying that the authorities had not managed to bring any individuals back to face justice after they had fled the Kingdom, so the public had questioned their work as well as that of governments.

 

For instance, the Foreign Ministry has been slammed for not being serious enough to take action in such flight cases, with some even suggesting there is a conspiracy not to do so, he said. 

 

The government therefore needs to explain to the public about any obstacles that stand in the way of the authorities pursuing legal action, including international law, Sansern added.

Better use the funds to prevent fugitives running out if the country before too late.

Build a wall and have Cambodia pay for it!

The bail system is a joke. Reform that first and there will be no need for panels of crooked incompetents to try and sugar coat what are very often reprehensible court decisions with zero notion of true justice or integrity at their core.

Mr red bull, jenphop, premchai, sorrayuth, banyin thangpakorn, and a whole host of other complete rotters are free while those with less cash and connections languish in squalid jails ?

An excellent idea. Following a simple methodology:

1. Choose mates to be on panel.

2.Order lunch.

3. Check map.

4. Visit likely Countries/Cities. Caribbean, South Pacific, Paris, London, New York etc.

5. Report back, "Non spotted on beaches or in shopping malls.

6. And repeat.

It would be easier to concentrate on the criminals who have not fled the kingdom, there are plenty who are hear the panel could investigate.

two guys i thank my lucky stars are not my neighbors;  often i believe the people that should be advising the current idiocy are not thai

I am guessing the reason for this sudden announcement is that both Thaksin and Yingluck laugh at the general in his dreams.

You forgot an important step between 3 and 4.

 

3b. Charter private jet.

That man has so many departments and panels in his lobby. I guess any sensible person would get lost. Lucky that they choosed nonsense.

The system is the way it is to ensure that graft is possible. That's why there are all these silly rules are attached with every piece of paper you are required to produce. Without this how would a government worker be able to afford to live!!?

My guess is that any such list will contain only the names of red-shirts, those named Shinawatra, others critical of the junta, and those who fled in fear for not going along with trafficking schemes.

 

Any others, like Boss, will be conveniently/accidentally left off the "list".

How about preventing fugitives from fleeing overseas so a committee doesn't have to make excuses as to why fleeing is so successful. Oops, I forgot where we are.

I don't think the public needs to question their work, they already know the answer.
