Have a tourist visa but accidentally stamped in for 30 days

Featured Replies

What is the best way to fix this. Got a tourist visa in the passport but at the airport they only stamped the person in for 30 days. Maybe they didn't see the visa or the farang didn't write down the visa number. How can they fix this, they are in Bangkok, what is the procedure? Got only 10 days left on the original entry, they just noticed it now. Thanks

Go to the nearest (i.e. any) Immigration office and they will fix this for you.

The person is staying near Rangsit, where is the nearest office. Is this the one?

Address: No. 120 Mu 3 Chaeng Watthana Soi 7 Thung Song Hong, Laksi Bangkok 10210

Thanks.

If they are staying in Rangsit then it's easy - go to the Bangkok Immigration Department which is in the huge government building at Chaeng Wattana.  Just tell a taxi driver you want to go to "daw daw maw" which is Thai for Immigration.  They all know it.

OK, thank you.

If they have an address they need to go to the immigration office for Pathum Thani province.

I'm not sure if this is happening more often lately or if like many things we are becoming more aware of it because of 'social media' etc.

Just a thought.

The person is staying with Thai Family in Pathum Thani , is there another office they must go to? They are registered at the family home there??

Where exactly must they go?

Oh and yes, the person DID write down the visa number, the officer stamped the wrong period of stay.

Thanks

Info for location of the Pathum Thani office is here.

If more convenient they can use Chaeng Wattana immigration since they will not be doing anything that requires and address on a form. CW has a desk just for stamping errors.

OK, so to be clear, they can go to the main immigration office at CW or Pathum Thani.

I will be advising them to go on ASAP, on Monday to get it sorted. You know you can tell them until you are blue in the face, check your stamp at the airport once stamped but very few often do. Then bigger problems emerge later, another wasted day.

Chaeng Wattana will be OK for the stamping error.

If they want to get a 30 day extension later they will have to go to the office in Pathum Thani.

Always check the date when the officer hands the passport back to you. It'll take few seconds, and will save a lot of hassle later. (like having to go to immigration to correct it)

Just a quick update. They didn't go where I told them to go (don't ask, they are Thai). The family decided to take the person to Don Muang Airport. Immigration there said go to the airport where they came in. So the headed to Suvarnabhumi and got it re stamped there. They crossed out the original date that was stamped and was re stamped correctly with some Thai writing explaining why it was changed. All good and no charge.

Thank you all for your help and comments.
