PHUKET: A putrid canal of black water emptying into Chalong Bay has gained the attention of officials in Rawai, who say they will hold the culprits accountable.

Photos of the canal provided to The Phuket News show fish dead in the water, presenting the ominous possibility that the level of contaminants in the polluted are killing fish and other marine life in the area.

Rawai Municipality councillor Sak Kiewdam led an inspection of the small canal, which empties in Chalong Bay little more than 700 metres south of Chalong Pier (see map below), on Thursday (Mar 1).

Clearly, some tourists must be bleaching dead coral in their rentals upstream.

Every day again we get more bad news from Phuket, who still wants to go there? Even for 259 baht in a vietthai plane i wouldn't go and rather pay 10 times more to fly to Singapore where everything is safe and clean and worth the money.

Change the Island in that photo to 'Rotting dead man' or 'Corpse' Island when it finally goes totally black.

Except the problem being the culprits are in a position of power and influence. The Rawai Municipality and officials will be paid off and everything will go quiet. The dead fish have no say.

“This has been a problem for a long time and local residents in this area have repeatedly filed complaints about it,” Mr Sak said.

Pathetic

Seems to take a long time to 'sink in' at an official level. Lazy so and so's.........:post-4641-1156693976:

As Cadbury, Post #6 says: "....officials will be paid off and everything will go quiet".  TIT.
