Over staying by 2 days on a 60 day single entry visa?

Featured Replies

Question#1) I leave on Tuesday and I've stupidly over booked my return flight by over 2 days(Arriving march 7th in thailand and leaving may 7th). I won't have time to reapply for another visa as my flight's around 12ish AM Tuesday. I'm not worried about the overstay fee but i'd like to avoid the overstay stamp on my passport even if it might not be a big deal in the future. I've booked economy so I doubt i'll be able to change the return flight. Do I have any other options? Since it's single entry, I can't just cross the border and come back. Is it possible for me to possibly apply for another visa or an extension while i'm there? If yes, how much are the fees?

Question#2) If I go back to thailand in october on a multiple entry visa, at that time, will I be able to stay there for 180 days(6 months) or only 118(4 months - 2 days)?

You could go tomorrow morning and get a 30 day extension.

1900 baht, but in todays climate better than overstay stamps.

Just re read your post.

March or May ????

The 180 day rule doesn't exist anymore.

1. I assume you are starting your trip on Tuesday of this week.

You can apply for a 30 day extension to avoid the overstay at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

2. A multiple entry tourist visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and allows unlimited 60 day entries. Each entry can be extended for 30 days. No problem to stay for 180 days or up to almost 270 days by doing an entry just before the visa expires and extending that entry for 30 days.

Great! I'll apply for the extension while i'm there as the immigration office will hold my passport while processing here.

and wow, I thought there was a 6 month limit per year unless you apply for other types of visas! Great news then, thank you!

The extension will done while you wait for it to be completed.

Not sure what "there" and "here" mean. Thai Immigrations offices are only located in Thailand. The embassy or consulate where you got your visa is not an immigration office.

When you arrive on the tourist visa you'll be given a 60 day permission to stay. About a week to 10 days before the 60 days ends, you can go to an immigrations office and apply for a 30 day extension which will be added onto your 60 day permission to stay. You will be given the full 60 + 30 days regardless of when you apply for the extension.
