Pattaya residents call bus stops pointless money-waster

PATTAYA:--A growing number of Pattaya residents say the baht-bus stops the military ordered built are a waste of money and don’t correspond to how people actually use public transport.

In their efforts to bring order to the chaotic baht-bus system, the National Council for Peace and Order had Pattaya paint 168 stopping zones on streets across the area. The goal was to have the pickup truck taxis and tour buses stop only in designated areas, not wherever they wanted, as they normally do.

That hasn’t happened. Baht buses continue to stop, double-park, pick up and drop off people as they always have. Except for those in front of large shopping malls or office buildings, the stops are ignored.

The problem, some complain, is that the stops were built without any consultation or regard to how people actually use public transport. Furthermore, they say, some stops were built in the wrong place.

When they gonna get it in their head that a law will only be respected if it is enforced.

Hilarious.⬆️

Not just pointless but a, destroyer of Pattayas USP,  which is not sex but a free wheeling life style.  Just as the destruction of the street markets on lower Sun Bangkok....ruined the area. The uneclected leaders are ashamed to be Thai and scared to be Thai not patriots but the opposite. The Army introduced baht bus rules in Pattay are pathetic and every rejection of them by Thai or tourist is and locals a fight for freedom against Government overreach by unelected bullies with guns and boots..  ..Who nobody voted for.

A police force would help.

A brief history lesson would have taught them it's impossible. Not so long ago the city spent a fortune on pedestrian lights and no one stopped. It actually made the roads more dangerous for pedestrians.

Today I saw 2 yellow Taxis parked in front of a bus stop and the drivers was sitting on the bench having a Smoke.
