Handsome and super-smart Hans is from WVS-Care for Dogs and currently in boarding and training at LuckyDogs-TH.  
Handsome Hans is homeless, unfortunately, and he is desperate for a home of his own. 

He loves being close to his guardian, lots of cuddles, ball- and tug-of-war games for the physical exercise, and search-games and clicker training for the even more important, and for Hans most important,  mental exercise.
He does not like being on his own for extended periods of time; his solution to boredom and loneliness is to jump a (2 meters) fence in search of entertainment outside. With a 2 1/2 meter fence he hasn't had success yet. Therefore, a life in the garden for Hans is not advisable, he loves to be part of the family.  

He is not fond of same-species male competition. Females are more tolerated. Not sure about cats. He hasn't met a cat in years, if ever.   

Due to a rough past he had lost trust in humanity, especially strangers and those with fast-moving hands. Therefore, a family with young children is not advisable for him.  
His mistrust has improved a lot during his time at the shelter and now, at LuckyDogs-TH we are addressing the last fear-issues and are preparing him for his new home.  Handling him had greatly improved;  still working on paws and feet.  Hans is not fond of bathes ... working on that as well. 
Because of his past Hans is very sensitive for corrections. He doesn't handle that very well. Therefore, positive reinforcement based training is the way to go with Hans. Until now it has been very successful with him. 

Hans loves a soft bed or blanket at night. If no bed he will remain restless and barks at every suspicious noise. And, believe me, there are a LOT of noises when Hans doesn't have his soft bed at night. 
Currently he is on a raw food diet, but switching back to a (high quality) commercial dog food brand or a cooked diet will be no problem. 
He is approximately   4 1/2 to 5 years of age, in good health. vaccinated, neutered, and has received tick-flea treatment.

Yeh, aren't they all. :) 
Every dog/animal has his own fantastic peculiarities. 

Hans has a great combination of being affectionate and quite independent at the same time. He loves to be with you, but can be on his own quite well as well. Just not hours and hours in a row in the garden, while everyone else is in the house.  But then ... that wouldn't be my first choice for having a dog anyway. 

The other great trait I like so much in this dog is, that he is pretty smart and loves to do brain games. I find it fun seeing him trying to solve the puzzle.  Sometimes he needs my help a little to get on the right track and other times he beautifully figures it out himself and, in that way, keeps himself entertained for a little while.
