Phuket’s Soi Dog Foundation joins free sterilisation, rabies vaccination campaign

PHUKET:-- Phuket City Municipality and the Soi Dog Foundation have joined forces to provide free sterilisation of dogs and cats and free rabies vaccinations.

“Many people now have dogs and cats as pets, but many people also still have no idea of how to prevent diseases among their pets from spreading, or preventing a huge rise in their reproduction. The consequence is that there are more stray dogs and cats on the streets, which are more prone to spreading rabies,” Phuket City Mayor Somjai Suwansupana said.

“So the Phuket City Public Health and Environment Division and the Soi Dog Foundation are together providing free sterilisation of dogs and cats and free rabies vaccinations to prevent rabies and reduce the number of stray dogs and cats in the Phuket Town area,” she added.

Agree 100%, and it's good to hear that they and Phuket City are combining forces to provide free sterilisation and rabies (plus other infectious dog disease) vaccinations.  But this needs to be extended to all areas of Phuket again.

Phuket has been rabies-free for many years - and it makes sense (in every way) for local authorities to ensure this continues by combining with Soi Dogs to provide free sterilisation and vaccinations in a 'rolling', well-publicised 'programme' throughout the island, annually.
