Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon who is in charge of security affairs categorically denied there was a CIA’s secret detention centre in Thailand as alleged by Amnesty International.

Amnesty International said in its statement that veteran CIA undercover agent Gina Haspel who was picked by President Donald Trump to be the new CIA director used to in charge of a CIA’s secret prison in Thailand.

“There is no secret prison in Thailand. Our government has done everything openly. There are so many government agencies. How could a secret prison be set up in Thailand?” asked the deputy prime minister on Wednesday (March 14).

Given the choice of believing this little toad or the Americans, is not a difficult decision.

The man has shown himself to be totally untrustworthy, so I will not be starting to do so now.

Likely under guise of a military installation, or part thereof.

As the head of security, I'd expect this guy is one of few who knows the answer to his own defensive rhetoric.

As usual, though, he pretends to know nothing about anything.

At least a thread that brings some amusement after all the serious stuff :cheesy:

For those that dont know, let me introduce Bernard Manning. .

His resemblance to Kn Prawit is obvious, and further to that, they are both comedians.

Extraordinary rendition, also called irregular rendition or forced rendition, is the U.S. government-sponsored abduction and extrajudicial transfer of a person from one country to another that has predominantly been carried out by the United States government with the consent of other countries.

Where was Kalid Sheikh Mahommad (KSM) arrested?

Oh Mr. Prawit, we totally believe every word you say and despite the unfortunate circumstance that you forfeited earning for yourself the honorable nickname "Fountain of Truth" following the recent luxury watch debacle. By the way, we are all still waiting for an honest explanation regarding that one...

Wouldn't be surprised if the CIA prison was in his back garden. But he will be given time to explain the misunderstanding.

...are you sure, you don't need another 2...4...8..weeks, to really get into this matter?

He didn't deny there is a torture center,  its just not a secret. Torture appears to be quite common here and there are probably several sites.

There was but it was a few years back in George Bush jnr times,  the CIA admitted it existed, George senior was a frequent visitor to Thailand in the late  90's frequented Phitsanulok  military bases often ..........:coffee1:

Perhaps the CIA compensated him with luxury watches for providing his back yard. At least that would explain a lot.

You got it in one, Khun Prawit, Sir, with many knobs and watches on. There are "so many government agencies" in Thailand that it would be perfectly normal for one agency - let's say the 'Secret Prison-cum-Torture Camp' agency, to whom that nice US torture camp lady has paid a generous back-hander - not to say a bloody word to the other agencies . . . a game of agency snakes and ladders, almost.

Might account for a few of the 25+, I hear Rolex by popular demand are introducing a new model called Periscope Up.

555, so it IS true. If this guy denies something, it is very likely to be true.

Forgive me, but I lost track of the whole watch saga, what was the eventual excuse that got him off the hook ? Simply the denial ?

The secret prisons have been well-documented in a number of books and academic journals over the years, including Thailand, in which official US sources have admitted to their existence, including Thailand. The last comprehensive look at these so-called "black sites" was published in 2017 in a book called "The Exile".  The secret prisons are no longer a secret.  But I guess Prawit doesn't read. Too busy buying watches and trying to work out how to word his next shameless lie.

I have heard that a new watch is coming out and is to be called 'The Prawit Special': it lies every time it tells you the time!

I believe him as he is a twit.  This is the same guy who is still trying to work out where he got his watch from how is he possibly going to explain where he got a whole prison.

Hmm, the article says he denied there was a secret prison but the quote says there "is" no secret prison. Yes, some will say being pedantic but it begs the old question of what"is" is.....
