BANGKOK, 15th March 2018 (NNT) - The Thai government's cabinet has approved the drafting of national airspace policy for flexible use in commerce and security, in response to airspace changes.

Minister of Transport, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith announced today that cabinet has agreed on a national airspace policy to meet industry changes according to the development plan of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which allows for civil and security aviation.

The scheme follows the principle of flexible air traffic administration and the design of airspace according to user needs in different time periods. Aeronautical Radio of Thailand allocates 50% of airspace to civil aviation and 50% to security aviation.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts that in the next 30 years Thailand will rank first in the world's top 10 countries with the highest number of airline passengers, which would correspond to 3 million flights per year, in comparison with the present 20th ranking or 1 million flights annually.

The Minister of Transport disclosed that the cabinet has approved the drafting of an application for and the issuance of an Aerodrome Establishment license.

It stipulates the definitions of public and private aerodromes, the requirements for applicants, and the presence of headquarters in Thailand.

29 airports are under the control of government agencies, 6 airports are under the control of a state enterprise, and 3 airports are under the control of private enterprise.

That could be true if Vietnam decides to sit on its hands.  Burma was going to compete with Thailand, but they have grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory.

Was in Taipei more than one or two decades ago.  There are some very nice Burmese restaurants in the city, as there are a great many immigrants from there.  Was walking past one late one night after it had closed.  It was dark accept for a painting of Aung San Suu Kyi.  It was inspiring how the light reflected off the painting and made the rest of the room glow.  It was absolutely mesmerizing.  Today? only sadness surrounds her legacy.
