Timing for a EOS marrrige

Featured Replies

I currently have a Non-O 1 yr visa that ends beginning of July sometime. Next time i am going to get a EOS based on marriage.

I was wondering do i need to have a valid visa in order to get the EOS for example if i do a border run day before visa finished in July can I then apply for EOS 90 days later or do i need to apply before July visa runs out.

If i need to have a valid visa do I need to apply 30 days before visa finishes or day before visa finishes.

Thanks

May I ask you, what is a EOS based on marriage??

thanks...

Extension Of Stay.

If you do a border run and get 90 days you can apply for the extension anytime during the final 30 days of your permission of stay.

45 days at some offices.

It doesn’t matter if the ‘visa’ has expired (can no longer be used to enter the country) when you apply for the “EOS”.

As long as you have unexpired permission to stay from entering using the non-immigrant visa you can apply for an extension of stay.

Probably not best to wait until the last day of your permission to stay. The marriage visa extension involves a lot of paperwork and if anything missing you are in trouble. You may find your photos are not acceptable or that the officer wants another document. Also they will probably not give you the extension straight away but put you on '30 days under consideration'. You cannot leave Thailand during that period or you are back to square one. Considering the cost of the extension itself is peanuts, do it well in advance, you aren't really saving anything by waiting. Also best to organise your extension for a time of the year which is unlikely to conflict with any travel, as it will be the same time every year.
