RTAF is on standby to keep track of out-of-control Chinese space station

The Royal Thai Air Force is closely tracking the movement of a defunct Chinese space staion, Tiangong 1, which was recently estimated to plunge to Earth between March and April.

Group Captain Thamrongdet Charoensuk, director of the RTAF’s public disaster mitigation division, however, said that there is a slim chance that the 8.5-tonne out-of-control space station would fall into Thailand.

Nevertheless, he said the RTAF continued to track the space craft and had been on standby as a precaution and would keep the public informed of the updates about its re-entry to Earth.

I believe it was estimated that it would crash land in the Australian state of Tasmania.

An eight-tonne Chinese space laboratory is about to crash towards the Earth in a fireball – and chunks full of toxic chemicals could hit the ground in Tasmania, experts have warned.

For sure and for certain:  The RTAF are the guys you wanna hang your hat on for global space debris, tragegctory, and as to where it might land.

They got the right stuff.

Is that the Group Captain in the photo? He has rather long hair for someone in the military.

Looks like he had his own near miss tracking a pair of scissors.

Fora number of good reasons it is not particularly reassuring that the RTAF is keeping "track" of it. I think shaking a handful of amulets at the heavens in defiance of it's entry might be more effective.

It would cause no noticeable damage anyway, not compared to the daily 'accidents' that happen here.

Like the pedestrian footbridge that was dropped off a crane onto the road below, while it was being installed last week.

Bit drastic, just to stop people smoking on the beach.

I think that what was actually said was that most of it would burn up on re-entry with no mention of toxic chemicals!

Cant be he's  not sleeping!!

Chaps, Chaps, I have a cunning plan - no -listen, really.

You know that old blimp we have stored in the end hangar?

Well, if we inflate it a bit, and put it where the computer ( you know, the one the procurement office got for ThB370.000.000 from that guy at the back of the third floor in Panthip Plaza) tells us the space station is going to land, it will cushion the blow won't it?

Sorted then...
