geovalin Posted March 23, 2018 Share Posted March 23, 2018 The government has paid about $1.2 million to nearly 12,000 female garment workers who have had babies so far this year. According to a report released yesterday by the National Social Security Fund, 11,706 female garment workers delivered babies in January, February and the first 22 days of March. “So far this year, 11,706 female workers delivered 11,783 babies, with 77 of them having twins,” it said. Cambodia’s garment industry employs about 700,000 workers, most of whom are women. The report said that the government paid 4.7 billion riel, or about $1.2 million, to the female garment workers who gave birth.
