A friend has just arrived from Italy and she showed me her passport with a brand new METV with 3 months validity from the date of issue.

It costs 30 euro + show a bank statement with minimum 600 euro and that's it.

I've never heard and seen a METV like that and it was issued at the Thai consulate in Milan. The sticker has also a new graphic and colors.

So it seems that the old SETV doesn't exist anymore at least in the Thai Consulate of Milan, replaced by this new 3 months validity METV which it allows up to 6 months if maximised.

In attachment the pics of the sticker and stamp from IO at BKK airport.

It would be interesting if other Thai Consulates issue this new kind visa too and if somebody has already knowledge of it.

Did you realize watching the pic of the sticker that it's totally new for graphic and colors? And there's no more the price written on the sticker.

I was very surprised too when my friend showed me her passport because I never heard of a METV with 3 months validity and the cost (+ show of 600 euro minimum in the bank) of a normal SETV.

The point of my post is just to know if somebody has any knowledge about it and maybe in the future we'll see an official statement from the MFA and/or Thai Immigration  about it.

Maybe in the future there will be only METV with 3 and 6 months validity issued only in your home country.

Personally I didn't see the slightest indication that this is new visa policy.

If it was and announced somewhere it would have been a hot topic in this forum.

Too good to be true.

METV are issued in home country only. Always been the fact.

I am certain it was a mistake.  Somebody selected multiple instead of single before it was printed.

Were they applying for a single or multiple entry visa?

It’s a mistake.

Your friend was charged for, and met the requirements for, a SETV. So it looks like they have been issued a SETV with ‘Multiple’ entries by mistake.

My friend applied for a SETV and she got that. She even will be back in Italy in mid May.

That's good.

I wouldn't try my luck with another entry.

Anyway if there was a mistake in Milan,  also in BKK airport there was a mistake not stamping or writing "USED" on the sticker because my friend in theory could now stay up till mid September if she decides to maximise it.

But it won't be the case because she will go back to Italy in mid May.

Better keep a low profile and be happy that immigration didn't notice the anomaly.

Could have caused a lengthy discussion/investigation (fake?).

Immigration officers are under high pressure by the mass influx and may simply have overlooked this combination of 3 months and Multiple.

The visa is valid as issued, which is why it wasn't stamped as used. There is nothing stopping your friend entering as many times as she wants until 18th June.

There's nothing stopping Milan or any other consulate issuing a METV for 3 months. Immigration have no way of knowing if this was an SETV issued with multiple entries by mistake, or a METV issued for only 3 months by mistake/design.
