Dramatic video and still photography showed the aftermath of a crash of a Toyota Camry on Sukhumvit Road near Pattaya this morning.

The accident occurred as Pornthep Jailert, 27, was driving fast in the area of the temple of Wat Thung Krat in Bang Lamung.

The car overturned after hitting a power pole but Pornthep managed to get out before it burst into flames.

He was taken to hospital as police, fire and rescue services attended to scene at 4.40am today.

TNews said that it was believed that the driver did not fall asleep at the wheel and was probably drunk and unable to control his vehicle.

He will be interviewed again.

He will face a bill for damage to government property after hitting the pole.

Mostly good news.

The drunken racer didn't harm another person.

Car ruined.

May he survive and have learned a lesson.

A Thai learning a lesson, no way:

They don't make any mistakes, so no lessons to be learnt.

They will have to teach the power pole a lesson, they're more adept at learning them.Or, maybe there was a farang standing near the scene of the accident:They can  blame it on him

Don't kill my last illusions

Got to love the way the firefighter held up the reg. plate at the end of the video.

Lucky lotto number this week is 1417.

Kinnell. The hose pipe I use for my lawn is thicker than the fireman's one.

Have to ask but as this is Thailand might get conflicting answers

If it turns out he is DUI and crashes does the insurance still pay out or is it Null and Void and he has to buy new car himself?

The power pole had missed its target this time allowing this  moron to escape.

NO--- what he has learned is he can have a crash and even if the vehicle turns upside down he can walk away without a scratch----------- so whats he got to worry about ?

He drove a Camry. He's nobody. A Ferrari, he'd get an escort to hospital.

More precisely he said exactly,  hic...as soon as I'll remember the name of my father you will see who I am...hic :burp:

Somchai drives faaaast...............

Why he not stay in the car and burn with it, cause next time he hit someone with his drunk face.

He will chose a better car that doesn't lose control when he drives drunk again.

The good news is:

He did not claim brake failure! Surely this is a first? :whistling:

Brain failure yes but not brakes.

You cant teach stupid!!!!!!!!!!

Interview again!  a bit too late don't you think?

He should have be interview right on the spot with a officer tagging along with him to the hospital for treatment. While getting treatment his blood should have been taken to check the level of alcohol. Once the level come back position as soon as possible he should be arrested and booked on drunk driving and property damage and a court date set.

No they wont pay out if he is charged with DUI

Insurance companies will look for any reason they can find to not payout
