If I choose to get an internal O married within Thailand can I apply on the last day of current entry?

I seem to recall they needed a few days left and then you paid for 60 day extension while it was under consideration.

Any advice appreciated, when I called the person coudn't offer clear advice

Yes, you can apply for a 60 day, or 1 year extension, of stay right up to the last day of your current non-immigrant visa entry. Even a few days after if you pay the overstay fee.

60 day extensions are issued on the stop. 1 year extensions are put under consideration (formality) for 30 days, during which time you can legally stay in the country.

Do you mean On the spot, i.e the same day please?

Are there any extra documents needed for the 60 days than the 1 year , e.g. extra photos ?

completed form, from your passport copy of visa, entry card, id page, 2 photo's i believe could be 1, copy of marriage cert, wife id card and house book, all copies signed by both, and wife has to be with you 1,900 baht.

edit copy of rental agreement if not living in wife's house

You don't have to get the 60 day extension if you can qualify for the one year extension. You get a under consideration stamp with a report back date 30 day later.
