PHUKET: Phuket City Municipality yesterday donated B1.36 million to go towards medical equipment for the currently under construction Chalong Hospital.

At 1:30pm yesterday (Mar 29) at the Phuket City Municipality Meeting Room, Phuket City Mayor Somjai Suwanasupphan together with Deputy Attorney General of the Office of Litigation at Phuket City Municipality Bantoon Thongtan held a meeting to donate B1.36mn for medical equipment at the upcoming Chalong Hospital.

Mayor Somjai said, “Chalong Hospital still lacks the budget to purchase medical equipment and supplies, which means that it is not yet sufficient to accommodate the number of patients.”

It w]seems like a generous gesture by the Municipality, until you read the last paragraph when you see the whole amount was donated by private sponsors!

It's now a race to see which opens first: the hospital or the underpass. My money's on the hospital though how frustrating will it be for ambulance drivers (and "passengers") unable to access the hospital due to the roadworks!
