April 1, 20188 yr Popular Post We were reminiscing on another thread about cars of our past so instead of high jacking that thread anymore I decided to start a new thread dedicated to cars we owned in the past that we miss now. I have had quite a few but will start with a car most will recognize. I always liked the Ferrari that was on the TV show Miami Vice. It was a black Ferrari Daytona Spyder or a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 which were produced from 1968 to 1973. Now I could never afford the real deal so I bought a replica (the Ferrari on the show was a replica). It was on a 1978 Corvette chassis and running a 350ci fuel injected Corvette engine. Was definitely the chick magnet when I lived in SoCal and very fun to drive. One of my car buddies had a real 365 GTB and we would park them next to each other. Most people could not tell them apart as mine had a Ferrari interior. The only real difference on the outside were the wing windows on the real one and the door handles.
April 1, 20188 yr My UK chum just "had" to sell a hard top Daytona... It was a horrible thing to drive..It was no wonder the original owner Sir.Elton sold it.....
April 1, 20188 yr Popular Post My ride for I think 22 years..Started out a slug but was turned into a lot of fun...
April 1, 20188 yr I don't have any pictures but my ford Gran Torino was a great car, if backseats could talk.

My friend with the real Daytona like to drive mine rather than his. The V-12 was a bitch in traffic and always had to keep the revs up. Also maintenance was quite a bit cheaper on my ride.

April 1, 20188 yr Not mine as got no pics. But similar. No front bumper, no chrome, no headliner. 389 6 pack 4 speed, tilt front end.
April 1, 20188 yr Again - not mine. Virtually identical 350 4 speed. Learned about body work with this car. Paint was fresh when I bought it. It was hit in the LH rear quarter. Repaired with many coats of Bondo and chicken wire from behind the door to the taillights. Fitted new panel, repainted.
April 1, 20188 yr Popular Post Beautiful car, but gutless and handled like crap. Transplant 327 4 speed, coilovers in the rear, bigger front and a rear sway bar. Now we talking

That's a 57 Chevy, a 389 is a Pontiac engine with did come with 3 duces but was never called a 6 pack with was only on Mopar engines???????????
April 1, 20188 yr Mine was black. Dog dish hubcaps. ex Vernon RCMP police pursuit. 427 T400 manual steering. 270 rear end gears. Put into drive would shift to second at 70, third over 120, never had the guts to go flat out in third

April 1, 20188 yr Popular Post My first "good" car, a Riley Pathfinder 2.5 litre OHC, 4 speed floor change on the right of the drivers seat. true luxury for it's day.
April 1, 20188 yr Opel Commodore coral red. Was technically ahead of it’s time. Even had hydraulic valve adjustment and aluminum block with double Weber carburators. I never found the reason why the seal of the valve cover was sucked in during strong acceleration..happened all the time.Very high maintenance cost, I bought this car against strong advice of my dad and yes he was right but the alternative was a Scoda which he suggested :)Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
April 1, 20188 yr Author Popular Post Here's some pixs of my old 61 Pontiac. Was one of 49 and a former Georgia State Patrol pursuit car. They had them made special to chase moonshiners. Super Duty 389 and 3 speed on the column because the automatics of the time were crap, super duty finned brakes, radiator, generator and battery.. I changed it to 4 speed. Yep that's me a lot younger. lol
April 1, 20188 yr My old '78 Jeep CJ5 3-speed. But for sheer drivability and comfort, have to say the Ford Bronco.
April 4, 20188 yr Popular Post I did enjoy this car, 1964 MGB same as this one but with black interior, I had it in 1968, but they were rust buckets...

April 4, 20188 yr Not mine, but a good friend had one of these. Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 V6 Twin Turbo AWD 6 speed Insurance company told him - "One more speeding ticket and you are Toast" Went very well. Also available here sans Turbos Edited April 4, 20188 yr by canthai55
April 4, 20188 yr Popular Post My '69 GT350 (with my sis's '64 1/2 convertible in background). Over the 5 years of the 1st gen Shelbys, they got more and more pudgy from creature comforts, which makes the 69 an ideal city cruiser for me; air, power steer, auto and fat-man (tilt-away) steering wheel!
April 4, 20188 yr Popular Post I still miss my GMC back from when I lived in Sharjah the other one I had at the same time was Dodge Ramcharger Arnold Judas Rimmer of Jupiter Mining Corporation Ship Red Dwarf
April 4, 20188 yr Popular Post Think this was 1983, my 1975/6 Ford Granada 3ltr V6 auto (with independent suspension) I refurbished...Really nice ride....Think at the time I was too..
April 4, 20188 yr Author Popular Post Got a few more to Post. This is the first car I restored after my last divorce and could afford to get into cars again. 1964 Dodge. It had a 318 V-8 in it when I got it but later dropped in the 426 Hemi. Painted it the original color which Dodge called Seafoam Green. Actually had a few metal flakes in it from the factory.
