GPS problem Samsung note 3

Featured Replies

Admittedly phone getting on a little, but having a problem when using Google maps to find a location. I'm talking about when I get directions to a particular place. Firstly it's very laggy meaning I'll be physically 500m ahead of where my location is showing. Then it will catch up and lag again.

I used to get an arrow pointing where to go and voice commands. Now I just get a small blue dot which moves as i travel. I've checked settings etc and everything seems set OK. Is it possible I've damaged the GPS antenna or something and it's only operating on Internet? Is there anyway I can check or does anyone have suggestions?

Try the GPStest app from Google store, should tell  you if you are getting GPS signal.

Went outside 21 satellites available fixed on 5. Best accuracy to within 15 meters. Does that sound OK? Got the app but there is no actual test function as such. Just as shownScreenshot_2018-04-02-14-38-30.jpg

I wish I could just delete and reinstall Google maps but phone won't let me. I've triple checked all settings. Just don't know? Got another app and it appears my GPS was optimized to Australia. Now changed it to Thailand may make a difference

You should be able to at least uninstall "updates" which takes it back to the factory/originally installed version.  Then let it update again. When going to Apps in your Android settings if the "Uninstall" or "Uninstall Updates" button is not offered (may just offer Disable or Force Stop buttons) trying clicking the three dots which is usually at the top of the screen and it may offer "uninstall" there.  Also try going to Google Play to uninstall from there.
