I recently may have discovered a clue as to why the CCTV video is often lost in Thailand.

Check out the date on the lower left of the monitor.

This is just the date that's set in the camera and probably this video feed goes into another device which does the actual recording.

Well, OP can speak for himself, but what I thought his point was is that the reason they can't find footage was that when they go back through the recordings looking for the right date, they don't find it because that's not set right.

Perhaps if they can't set that date, the date in the other equipment isn't set correctly either.
