The chief of Pattaya police station has ordered officers manning the station to wear Thai traditional costumes every Tuesday. Pattaya police chief Pol Colonel Apichai Krobphet issued the order on Tuesday.

The order stated that the wearing of Thai traditional costumes would comply with the policy of the government and the Chon Buri provincial governor.

Only the officers who work inside the station are required to wear the costumes.

Utter hog wash. What can possibly be said to rationalize such shit-for-brains directives like this.

So they're going to go from being bent and ineffective to looking like complete planks while still being bent and ineffective. What a load of toilet ?

I checked 3 times to see if this was posted April 1. I still think it must be a late April fool's joke.

Anyhow, which traditional Thai clothing is traditional for policemen?

Somehow I don't think it's the same as traditional Thai street vendor garb (shorts, flip flops and spotted gray wife beater).

The Chief of Pattaya police is looking to get a promotion one suspects. Hoping Prayut will notice his actions and reward him.

I didn't think stupidity was supposed to be rewarded, but Thailand is different from the norm I guess.

To calm down a bit.

It's obviously not the police on patrol/on the road.

It's for the chair warmers in the station I assume.

I hope the trad outfits come with deep pockets

What does it matter what they wear. Most will never be seen on the streets

I think bearskin and mace would come closer to reality and perfectly reflects the mindset.

Thailand has really lost the plot.

HELLO ! planet Earth callng

Pattaya is a tourist place. So what is wrong to make a new attraction to these tourists: police office every Tuesday as a kind of museum ?  Combine it with a tour around to show how Thai police was a century ago. Make the police your best friend...

No pockets.

They could wear straight jackets and it wouldn’t matter

May I suggest this uniform that could be considered for the female officers at the police station, please ?

That's a very long brown cloth envelope draped over his shoulder.

unlike the rest of you, i welcome this refreshing idea,

i mite go down to police station just to admire the costumes

This sounds very much like a PM Prayut inspired idea. The place gets more stupid by the day.
