Double Entry Followed By Tourist Visas?

Featured Replies

Hi.

A friend has a double-entry visa for 60 days each entry, giving him 4 months in Thailand. Can someone please advise if he can apply for 30 day tourist entry starting from the date the double-entry visa ended? Will this then give him an additional 90 days?

Thanks.

He has six months to use a two entry visa (or should have) so he can stay 60 days, extend at immigration 30 days (1,900 baht) leave country/enter for 60 days extend 30 days (again) and then use entry without visa if required.

He wasn't aware that he could have extended at immigration... Bangkok?

His double entry runs out on 20th Feb and he wants to stay in Thailand until 15th May. He's a Canadian.

How can he do it?

How many entries has he used? If he still has one entry left, it's easy. All he has to do is a border run on Feb 20 and he'll get 60 days which he can extend by 30 at an Immigration Office taking him up to approximately May 20.

He can extend at any immigration office. So if his permitted to stay (60 days) runs out on February 20 have him visit an immigration office before that time and obtain a 30 day extension of stay (to March). Then he can do two 30 day entry without visa to get to May 15.

Than you, everyone. Much appreciated.

i hate to put a spanner in the works(i really do),but i think it should be understood that not all immigration officers see the new rules the same way.i have already posted my experience today in another thread, but think it warrants telling again here.my visa history since october 1st:

29 oct. enter suvarnabhumi, 30 day visa exempt.

27 nov. depart nong khai.

4 dec enter nong khai ,tourist visa (60 day stay granted)

26 jan .apply for extention at jomtien (30 day extention given)

the officer told me that i could get a further 7 day extention in case of emergecy. otherwise i would have to leave thailand for 90 days at the end of my extention!! so basically his view is perhaps that the tourist visa and visa exempt days are both counted. i say perhaps because my extention was given which will take me to 120 days since the new regs came in.maybe he didnt notice the 30 day stamp ?. i really dont know, but it goes to show that there are going to be many different interpretations of the rules !!!!
