Out of 3339 cases of drunk driving 356 licenses were confiscated. There’s a joke in there somewhere?

If they did breathalyser tests on a daily basis, they would realise that 2,700 is probably the mean daily average for the year.

ps wouldn't dream of taking a backhander from the other 623?

Can't hear the message while wearing the tight helmut..

All I can is, let the party begin, hick!! Last years record death toll will beaten again, you can't keep a good Thai down.

3,339 cases of drunk driving.

Should be 3,339 licences revoked & banned for a year. time to get serious.

This is pathetic. Come on guys, you can do better than this. Gotta keep that number 1 spot

It isn't always the Police who stop Drunk Driving.

In Canada the group called MADD   ( Mothers Against Drunk Driving).   They focus on 5 areas and have been very effective in making their peers more responsible with drunk driving.

Could THAI private citizens band together and stop their peers/family from Drunk Driving ?

...fines but no mention of amounts....a few hundred baht they will laugh off...

...$100 and up equivalent may make them think twice.....

It appears that nothing pleases some people. I’d rather the stop 3000 than stop nobody.

I'm sorry, I'm having a problem getting my head around the arithmetic here. It never was my strong point at school, but ....

THey say the funeral directors at this time of year cant stop smiling. Funny i have never seen a funeral director smile so i guess they will make a lot of money.  Everybody is a winner at songkran. The cops taking bribes,  The funeral directors who double their money and the lazy Thais because they have a they dont have to work.

Strange report, stating on Thursday.... isn't it still Thursday? or have the police done their bit, packed up and gone home already?

Quote

A junta spokeswoman said on Thursday that 156 vehicles were seized the day before and 2,716 motorcyclists and other drivers were charged with drunk driving.

Stated on Thursday and quite clearly giving stats for Wednesday.

They would probably be charged with defamation if they turned someone in.

If there were enough police on the roads there would be 100s of thousands caught, because the country has incredibly irresponsible motorists. Drink driving or anything else crazy
