Thai Rath reported that the Songkran water fight party in the Khao San area of Bangkok was in full swing yesterday.

Strict measures were in place at the entrance to the play zone with powder and high powered water guns confiscated.

People dressed inappropriately (teng tua po) were turned away, reported the Thai media.

Deputy tourist police commissioner Surachet Hakpal and his entourage came to join the fun and ensure that all was proceeding properly at 3pm.

Surachet is one of the highest profile cops in Thailand at the moment and is known as "Big Joke" in the media after his crime busting exploits.

There were five cases of slash theft of bags reported to nearby Chana Songkran police.

One was Chinese tourist Mor Ying Ming who had 10,000 baht stolen from a yellow waterproof bag.

Can someone explain to me how being in the mass of bodies in any way can be fun?  Too me it is just a parade of people with nothing better to do but waste their time.

:sorry:

Looking at that photo I wouldn't want to be there, better party places to hang out than a mass of appropriately dressed, appropriately behaving, appropriately cowed people!!

Sunshine at last in the UK today...life is good happy songkran

Merry makers are now required to don temple clothing or Thai period-dress before the Big Joke arrives?  How quaint.  "You cover up!!!"

Perhaps the big joke is on Thailand as a country?  188 souls killed and ten times plus that injured on the roads in 3 days, but the Big Joke is out leading the morality police on a crackdown on tourists violating dress-codes?  I would think that putting officer BJ and his underlings behind the wheels of highway patrol cars would have a greater effect on the well-being and overall health of this nation.
But maybe I'm missing something.  :glare:

He can't be everywhere same time and he is not a traffic police officer but your people in here is always complaining about government police the rules law's etc why are your guy's here

To meny sex pat

That could be the work of another Chinese tourist - Teng Tua Po.

Or it could have been a farang who has overspent on 'entertainment' and needs cash for the last few days of his (or her) holiday.

I would not lose one days sleep if I never saw another falang during the water festival! they have perverted it by their inappropriate actions, being half naked, both men and women, being snot slinging drunk, and their dam bad manners! up here in the north east where their are very few falangs the water festival is as it should be, with the Thai's having a good time.
