Buddhist Morality teacher rapes young Bangkok boys instead of ordaining them

A Buddhist monk who teaches high morality came to Bangkok to help in the ordination of four boys.

But instead of teaching them right from wrong Wuthipong took them to a hotel and raped them.

The boys - aged 12 - 14 - told their parents about what happened and a warrant was issued on Thursday that led to the arrest of Phra Wuthipong Promtuto yesterday.

He admitted that he was into deviant behavior and is now safely behind bars in Rachada after being defrocked.

Wuthipong was visiting the temple of Wat Paknam Phasicharoen in the Prachacheun precinct.

He comes from Nan in Thailand's north where he was a teacher of Buddhist high morals, reported Sanook.

He has been charged with obscene behavior and rape against minors under the age of 15.

Worst of the worst.

Beware of those who preach morality. As soon as someone starts doing it to me, I’m like, “Na. I want nothing to do with you”.

The robe doesn't make the monk.

Where were their parents?

I hope the <deleted>  gets the worst of "high morality teachings"  in prison.

Buddhism paying tribute to roman catholicism.

Yet again innocent defenceless children paying the price for society turning a blind eye to the excesses of spiritual bodies, who have continued to be given a free pass for centuries and aided and abetted by friends in low places.

I was going to say, the guy post-arrest tells the police he's into "deviant" behavior...

But what about all the time BEFORE he came to BKK for this visit? None of the other monks at his home temple ever thought or noticed anything was amiss?  Surely he was engaging in the same kind of conduct up there, and what became of it?

Let's hope he gets a lesson in Bang Kwang morality!

The only difference between this case and thousands of others,is the Thai are finally finding the courage to put these faces in the media.

It took 50 to 60 years for a long stream of formally abused adults to come out against the clergy.

This is a small step of a thousand miles.

And what are you thinking a monk can really do?

Is this the same kind of thainess that the ex prime minister was talking about the other day. I think he said he was proud... Can't quite remember all the details now...

Good point.

There’s probably a gang of them there.

He was probably just drunk. 500 baht

Think maybe they should dress him as a woman in prison for the next 50 years.

There would be a huge investigation if he was white.

No, it is not Thainess. The practice was learned from the Catholic Church.

I am not religious in any way and there are certainly many who abuse their positions within all religions.  However religious belief is a driving force throughout the world and has been for centuries and not everyone involved is bad.  Unfortunately you only hear about the bad apples (and there are plenty of them) when it comes to the abuse of children or women.  Many people need religion in their lives and mainly it is for the good.  Today we question everything whereas in the past things were kept quiet.  The abuse has always been there but now at least people are willing to come forward.

As the late Professor Stephen Hawkings said " Religion is there for those who are frightened of the dark" I believe he means for those people who think there must be something next or afterlife and cannot accept this is ' as good as it gets "

Everything from, Adam and Eve to Noah's Ark and all the rest of the mumbo jumbo have been disproved by science, yet people still believe. If it gives them comfort, then so be it.

I find no reason to look up to people such as the hypocrite Pope, the RC religion has nor to these Imans preaching the world is flat, the sun rotates around the Earth not to mention all the other junk such as women are nothing and a Muslim can have sex with a child at any age if they are ready to menstruate etc.

Buddhism to me was one of the least demanding, inoffensive and most easily palatable until we hear of cases like these.

Clergy, aristocracy... just exercising the powers the feeble gave them. Welcome to mediaval times.
