Cabinet, NCPO, EC to discuss election roadmap this June

 

 

BANGKOK, 16th April 2018 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Wissanu Krea-ngam has disclosed that the cabinet, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), and the Election Commission (EC) will meet in June to discuss election related matters. 

Wissanu said some political parties have sent their requests to meet with the NCPO and the government this June, but didn’t detail what the meeting’s agenda would be. 

In response to Pheu Thai Party’s comment that the NCPO has no power to set an election date, Wissanu remarked that the NCPO never said it was going to be the one determining the election date, adding such a decision belongs solely to the electoral organ. 

Whether or not political parties will join the meeting, Wissanu said it is mandatory for the cabinet, the NCPO, and the EC to meet this June to go over the country’s roadmap and possibly an election date. 

Hitting back at criticism that visits made to local communities by cabinet members are part of the government’s election campaign, the deputy prime minister said the intention of community visits is to gain first-hand insights into people’s problems and needs, so that the administration can respond with policies that tackle those problems at their roots.

They postpone the election so many times, the roadmap shut be ready many years ago!

Seems like the definition of electorial campaigning from the horses mouth to me.

Problems stemming from a lack of free speech and no voice in an elected government most likely will be the findings.  But gallantly they will probably fix these problems and spin them into great triumphs of the quivering, unelected hand at the helm of this rudderless ship.

Time to take a look at the opposition parties too see if any of them are doing well enough to need a few obstacles so they can't possibly present a challenge to their preselected winner. The junta needs this to be able to claim legitimacy.
