Video: Army major apologizes to society - says he was in a foul temper

A major in the Thai army told police that he was terribly sorry for his actions after he was shown on video in an argument with a woman on a motorcycle.

 

He said he was cross that she had hooted him and shown him her middle finger.

 

The video, taken by Pathumwan, 31, who was egging the major on to react, hit social media as the major said:

 

"Do you know who I am?"

 

Many times he advanced on the woman only to be restrained by a woman believed to be his wife.

 

None of the family appear very pleasant and the poster herself seems itching for a fight.

 

Nakorn Sawan police arranged for the matter to be settled at the station. Pathumwan didn't show up saying she had other business to attend to in another province.

 

Major Siraphop Maturot said he had been out shopping with his wife and children on Sunday.

 

He was angry that he was being hooted and shown the finger so he confronted the woman.

 

He apologized to society.

 

Major Siraphop works in army ordnance in Nakorn Sawan some 300 kilometers north of the capital Bangkok.

Do you know who I am, is what passes for justice in the absence of law enforcement. No doubt whatsoever in my mind that had a policeman been present, he would have been bowing and scraping.

I'm sure he'll do the decent thing and resign, like the rest do when found out to be a bully.

 

I think this video is great.   I'm relieved Mr. Major didn't get taken down by the woman he confronted.     I wish someone could post the background info. on what led up to this event.

 

The Major is lucky he listened to the lady in the striped shirt.   Had  he not listened I fear he'd have been in store for a butt tanning when he got home. 

 

That's a really brave family we see in action.    I'll try to remember to not invite them to the next annual picnic. 

 

I wonder how the motorbike lady managed to maintain  her resolve?   Is she a known social activist?   If she did in fact give Mr. Major the finger I wonder why she did so?

One of the biggest problems with Thailand is the use of this phrase.

Conduct unbecoming.

When are we going to read a positive story about off duty personnel along the lines of...

 

- Being first on the scene at a fatal RTA & being able to administer 1st aid and control traffic?

 

- Evacuating people from fire or flood?

 

- Rugby tackling the odd bank robber who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

 

This bloke should be court martialled, busted & escorted to the gate to the sound of the drum!

You can see the kids are already displaying their feeling of impunity which is no doubt inherited from ones who should be leading by example. I don't get how a beep of the horn, or someone giving the finger can enrage people so easily. If I got beeped i'd think what have I/am I doing wrong, not pull over and assault someone for it.

I'd offer two baht to see a photo of the girl talking with Mr. Major.

She must carry with her a set of balls.

When i am watching these frequent scenes of high ranking military guys making fools of themseves i wonder what is the real quality of the defense forces ? ( mentally and physically..)  For exemple do you expect this leveled tempered, brilliant and charismatic fellow lead troops against anyone?

The guy was in my opinion drunk, what the hell is it you are very aggressive is no reason for that, apologize is not enough!

He obviously needs some basic driving lessons & learn to indicate before pulling out into traffic.
