Now I found out, that I could do the Same in Savannakhet, following the

Any Pros and Cons to this Trip for a Visa?

Savannakhet is much quieter. However, you must show copies of bank statements with the equivalent of at least 20,000 baht with your application. At Savannakhet, they can also ask for onward flights out of Thailand and hotel reservations, though they have usually not been asking for these recently. Beware: if applying in Savannakhet, you must be inside the gate before 11:00 am. Generally, I consider Savannakhet a boring town, but pretty good for visa applications.
