16 Cambodians hurt in Prachin Buri road accident

By The Nation

Sixteen Cambodian migrants were injured when their pickup hit an ice truck in Prachin Buri’s Muang district on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred on the Prachin Buri-Prachantakham road in front of the KC Factory in Tambon Dong Khi Lek.

Police said the pickup, which was driven by Charnwit Pengsomboon, hit the rear of the ice delivery truck and flipped over.

Police said the ice truck made a left turn into a temple at an intersection, and the pickup was unable to stop in time.

The Cambodians, who were heading to work in Chachoengsao’s Bang Nam Prieo district, were injured as they were riding on the back of the pickup truck. They were taken to the Apai Phubate Hospital.

No fatalities but shows why riding in pick ups should be banned on all major roads

Usually the danger from ice is when it’s on the road, not in a truck. Driver will claim brake failure or falling asleep, real cause will be all or some of excess speed, following too close, failure to signal by ice truck, driver on phone.

A Cambodian lady and her husband who are known to me just returned from their New Year celebrations.

In a pickup truck with 9, - YES 9 other people travelling in the cab section, and without any rest breaks

Insane !

Pickup driver speeding.

Pickup driver following too closely.

Pickup driver not paying attention.

Or all three at the same time.

The pickup driver was unable to stop in time.

Its OK, thankfully  no dogs were harmed otherwise it would have been "really serious"

time speed limits were put on any trucks/vans carrying passengers in the back, trouble is the drivers are always in a hurry to get where they are going so dont really care about the ones in the back, maybe charging them with murder might help to as that is what they do by speeding
