Pu Pompon (powder puff tree)

Featured Replies

Hi

I lived happily in an old wooden house with one of these trees outside, a couple of metres high and spreading quite wide.

The wonderful thing was it looked after itself and wa the gift that kept on giving.......delightful flowers which seemed to go then regrow cyclically again and again and again many many times per year for the many years I lived there.

A friend next door dug it up and put it in his garden and loves it the same.

I now am starting a garden of my own elsewhere and want it back!!

Obviously I can't ask for it so I have two options.

Can take cuttings.

If I do this, it being essentially hard skinned, how long would it take to grow up to a respectable show piece small tree size?

The alternative is to buy one.

I found one yesterday without flowers couple metres high but not spread out like the other one.

The lady said it is white pu jompon. 2200 baht she asked.

I've looked on line in Thai and indeed they have white but I prefer the red.

Any info or sources for better trees at better prices much appreciated.
