Why weren't the two old ladies wearing identity wrist-bands, a routine practice in hospitals around the world?

Obviously.

And, it seems that they are now including day excursions, with complete strangers, as a part of the package

Maybe they should equip all medical tourists with GPS tracking devices?

Dr Pisit Sriprasert, inspector general of the Public Health Ministry, said on Wednesday that this was a case of mistaken identity regarding two female patients, who were both 83 years old, terminally ill and dependant on ventilated oxygen via a tracheotomy.

Same name, perhaps twins? Why can't they just say that they made a huge mistake, these face losing people?

That would be a part of an upgraded “tracking” package, I believe.

carry on grandma

Obviously she was on her way out anyway. Her life may have been prolonged with a few more weeks of suffering. But there was going to be an inevitable outcome .

This probably has saved the only daughter tens of thousands in medical expenses.

Credit has to be given to the family who took an old woman home that they KNEW was not a family member.  An amazingly insane situation. ONLY in THailand.

I wonder why. To check her pockets for valuables, or to force her to name them in her last will?

Sounds like an episode of ' One foot in the grave '

" Oh Victor what have you done now I asked you to visit mother not bring a different one home "

Makes you wonder how many kids have been born and handed to the wrong family. Difficult to see that mistake.

To me most Thais look the same. Sometimes I can hardly tell them apart. Why should Thais be any different?

Smells like a compensations scam.
