Dog vs Cobra - who are you rooting for!?

I always thought that snakes have fairly poor vision and rely more on IR images. Many like Cobras sway their heads to judge distance for a strike. If the snake is being shaken like that it will be difficult, but not impossible, for it to judge a strike distance. Could/maybe the reason a fast reaction dog will tend to come out on top.

Go with the Ridgeback... I have a Bangkaew and they are awesome but hard work..

Our neighbors have a Ridgeback and it's a great dog. I saw it nail a big cobra last year !!

Are these Rhodesian Ridgebacks??, or a Thai version......I took care of a neighbors Bangkaew for a month one time, the dog knew me but he was pretty aggressive toward anyone coming near the house, wound up too tight for me.  Ridgebacks on the other hand, I found were even keeled, only aggressive reacting to a threat, my boss in Kigali, Rwanda had two and they were totally alert to strangers, but never a peep out of them, unless they started entering the property. I would hate to be an intruder with them around.

Bloody  dogs, the snakes  will keep coming as cobras eat OTHER snakes so well done to the dog  supporters you have just increased your  supply of snakes by  killing the one snake that actually controls the snake population.

I couldn't have said it better myself, I don't kill snakes - I advocate the humane culling of soi dogs, as they have no natural enemies in modern society, except big Pythons, nothing to control them 'cept humans and moving vehicles.  :wai:

Thai Ridgeback... Even the soi dogs with a bit of Ridgeback are awesome dogs..

My boy is a champ but a stubborn bugger !! He's not aggressive anymore but only because he's too old to bother now.

He was always very protective though :)

Unfortunately a poodle we had got bitten by a cobra he was attacking.

i did not realise he got bitten by the cobra I broomed outside our property when I heard the barking. The cobra was bitten by the dog at several places. I found my dog dead half an hour later under my sofa at the terrace.

that dog would kill anything risking their lives in our garden.

neighbors told me this specific kind of cobras were very agressive and dangerous.
