Visa exempt in Laos

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I hold a tourist visa and just I extend my second single entry last week en april 27 at Chaeng Wattana , ending  up on 27 May..

I would to love to be back to my home in beginning of June, more convenient for me . So i was wondering if there's way to get a visa exempt for like 15 days not more ( i plan my flight on june 7 ) somewhere in Laos ?

I must say that i have no otherstay and didn't use visa exempt previously.

Thanks . Have a nice day

You can leave and re-enter the country to get a 30 day visa exempt entry at a border crossing if you qualify for one.

Only those from certain countries can get a visa exempt entry. You can get one since you are from France.

As far as I've seen you get the 30 days regardless of what you ask for even if you happen to provide a ticket out showing you only need 10 or 15 days.

The maximum they can give is 30 days, but IO’s can give less if they want to. There would be no point asking for less than 30 days.

Yes on both.

When it changed to only 2 land entries per year it was a good move to also change from 15 days to 30 because of backpackers who wish to see some of SE Asia in a more leisurely manner. It still causes some hardship because people wanted to go to Laos and then re-enter the kingdom (avoiding roads in Laos) before heading south and going to Cambodia followed by other land entry and then heading south for a full moon party followed by Malaysia/ Penang/ Langkawi or some such. Word in the street [sic] is that the road heading south in Laos has improved markedly which has had a detrimental effect on tourism in Sisaket.

For a country that is forever banging on about wanting to be a hub, they don't make it easy.
