PATTAYA:--Government inspectors visited Pattaya to check progress on how the province is combatting its rabies epidemic.

Prime Minister’s Office inspector Jirayu Nantharathorn, labor inspector Atchara Kaewkamchaicharoen and public health inspector Dr. Suthep Petchmak met May 4 with Gov. Pakarathorn Thienchai at the provincial hall to discuss both the central government’s anti-rabies campaign and its push to bring government services to local neighborhoods.

Chonburi’s Livestock, Public Health, Social Welfare and Controller’s departments also participated.

Jirayu said the government wants the province to collect and register all stray animals and ensure they are vaccinated against rabies.

In my opinion this is a waste of time and money..collect the stray animal  hold it at a pound for a week or 2 then if not claimed by an "owner"  who is willing to pay for  vaccination, chipping etc   the animal should be humanely sent to the next life, not returned to the streets to cause all the problems it was before.

Agree with above - Johng.  This story is about a typical Thai junket where self-important grandees natter on about solving a problem whilst consuming vast quantities of anything free.  The only workable solution is to take soi dogs off the soi, permanently.
