I am considering opening a bank account or two in Thailand, one joint account for TGF and myself, the other account for myself to hold and build a nest egg for the future when I can go to live in LOS. I travel to Thailand a number of times each year.

Any recommendations on a good bank for this purpose. What documents will I need to open a bank account in Thailand? Do the banks offer online banking?

Bangkok Bank and Siam Commercial Bank are good in my experience.

I am using Siam Commercial Bank since over 10 years, first in Songkhla in South Thailand, and now at Jomtien Beach.

Never any problems....

I recommend Krung Thai Bank for service and friendliness.

Forget Bangkok Bank the queues are far to long and they do not care.

I gave up on them after being a customer for over 10 years.

Siam Bank every time, but do not leave it until after 10:00 pm to use a cashpoint as the system is more down than up at that time of night (much like myself!!).

Siam commercial bank for the last 12 years, and no problems.

Doesn't matter, as long as it's on the way to the

airport when the revolution starts.
