i have an O-visa with 1-year extension based on retirement and a re-entry permit.  have done one in-person 90-day report, and one online.  maintain 800K+ in the bank for extension bank statements.  immigration office is CW.

i've been offered a job outside the kingdom that will allow me to return twice a year for about a month each time.  if i accept, i plan to hold the position for two years.  i want to keep my retirement extension valid.  i will be able to do the annual extension and renewal permit just before leaving, and will be able to return next year (and the next) at renewal time.  bank and broker statements are sent to my girlfriend's address in bangkok, so thailand residence will not change.

should i expect any difficulties from CW immigration at renewal time next year?  i will have all the necessary documents, but no 90-day reports for the entire year.  in/out stamps will show two 30-day periods in the kingdom.

will immigration issue a residence certificate if my latest 90-day report was a year or more prior to the application?  i will still have the latest 90-day reporting slip in my passport.  this would be for renewal of driver licenses.  i'll be at immigration for extension/re-entry, so would request RC at the same time.  would rather avoid a trip to the embassy for residency affidavit.

You will not have a problem.

Not sure if they will do one or not. If you have done 90 day reports before they should do one for your. All you can do is try.

Probably not, but they might ask why you’re out of the country for so long. It’s a permit to allow you to live in the country, and is not really designed for someone working/living abroad.

I’m not sure I see any benefit in keeping the permit to stay alive when you’re only going to visit for two months of the year. Those visits are easily covered by visa exempt entry or with a tourist visa.

the benefit?  i've already completed the process....got the visa, the extension, address in the system.......

will be out for probably two years (maybe three), with a couple trips back each year.  return trips likely for 6-week intervals, meaning a trip to immigration each time for visa waiver extensions.  getting the retirement extension renewal and reentry permit only requires one visit to CW.

planning to return for "retirement" afterwards, so why do it all over again?  you never know when the rules will change for o-visas.  maybe no longer offered in country, maybe need to return to home country, maybe bank balance requirement raised to 2 gazillion baht but current holders grandfathered.
