How NHS doctors learn to stitch us back up again after life-saving surgery - and it involves a lot of bananas

Every year hundreds of young people apply to medical school dreaming of becoming a doctor so they can spend their career saving lives.

 

It's a long and difficult process and they face years of training, lectures, exams and hands on experience.

 

Many don't make it to the end, but those who do will spend their lives helping people.

 

One of the basic skills all doctors need to know is how to do a stitch. It might seem basic, but it's vital for all operations and to treat common injuries.
