May 21, 20187 yr Having been here in Thailand for nearly three years now, I've decided to purchase a car (used). I'm aware (I think) that there are three classes of insurance 1, 2 and 3 and the 1st class being the best option. Does 1st class car insurance cover breakdown/recovery service, like some in the UK do, or do I have to take out an AA, RAC or Green Flag type of cover? If so, any advise on which company provides the best cover would be very much appreciated. I'd be looking for breakdown, home and recovery assistance. Many thanks for any responses.

May 21, 20187 yr Out with the premium marques, my experience is some makers provide free roadside assist with a new purchase for as long as the original warranty is in place. Some may also permit extending this for a premium. Ask your insurance agent or broker if they can assist with getting a roadside assist contract for a pre-owned motor. I have AXA insurance and they have their own roadside assist which is bundled with their 1st class policies. Ford use Mondial Assistance and they were good with my flat battery moments until I got that sorted out. Website here. Just checked and they cap members car age at 6 years maximum (Premier 1,790 Baht per year) or 5 years/100,000 km maximum (Platinum 2,700 Baht per year).
