Further details have emerged of the incident in Germany when a 7-8 year old foreign boy was saved by a Thai man working in the country.

The hero of the hour was named as Nong Khai native Mack Ruchanon.

He saw the boy fall into the water at a submarine museum called Maritim Museum  Peenemunde.

A submarine with the number U461 was in the background as Mack brought the boy to the safety of a harbor support before a raft completed the rescue.

Applause broke out as people watching - including a person who appeared to be the boy's grateful mother - congratulated the Thai for his efforts.

Online more than 2 million people viewed the video and read the story praising the Thai hero.

The story was posted on the Facebook page of Suchai Phatong.

Well done...but I have a sneaking suspicion, that we are running low on "good taxi driver delivers a pot of gold back to a customer", if we now need to go to stuff, happening in Germany...

But still: well don!

Great man who took action while others were filming.
The choice to be eligible for a EU-state citizenship, I would agree.
But maybe he'd rather be Thai.

no reason to give up Thai -he can be both

Well done good man, but am I the only one wondering why the boy cant swim?? slack parenting on mom and dads behalf ?

Quite unusual for a Thai to be able to swim also, unique circumstances!
