PHUKET: Pressed by the media over the ongoing lifeguard debacle at Phuket’s beaches, a leading local official at the centre of the fiasco today blamed “official processes” for causing the current state of lifeguard coverage at Phuket’s beaches.

After fielding a barrage of questions at the Governor Meets The Press meeting at Provincial Hall today (May 21), Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong handed the meeting over to Satien Kaewpraprab, Deputy Chief Administrator (Deputy Palad) of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO, or OrBorJor), to answer.

The PPAO is at the heart of the lifeguard crisis after it refused last September to increased the budget on offer by contract for any organisation to bid for.

Satien, you have a lot to learn as your superiors did to you, you should have handed the meeting to the cleaner or tea lady. They would have done as good if not better job than you.

He seems a very well decorated council worker, loads of stars n stripes, colours and parachute wings.i wonder if one of his medals is for getting out of tight corners.

It seems they buy all uniforms from same shop and you can just choose your accessories also. ?

NOBODY of authority in the kingdom will take "ownership" of problems, it seems. It is a game, called - 'Pass the buck'. :post-4641-1156693976:

many if not most qualifications-ranks-positions are purchased and not merit based.

i quite admire and respect thai musicians - singers that play very well/ sing very well because they had to work at it, study, practice , because talent and ability cannot be purchased or faked.

"If tourists and the general public are swimming on the beach get help first aid properly and fast from Coastal Security Administrators and related sectors will made the tourists feel safe and impressed with the measures that taken to keep watch on the beach, so then Phuket tourist arrivals will increase which will be beneficial to Phuket tourism." - PPAO Chief Administrator acting PPAO Chief Executive – Mr. Watcharin Pathomwattanapong

I think one can go beyond blaming official processes and blame specific public officials.

Meanwhile beaches need to be closed for public safety.
