Same thing happened with me a month ago...told Paypal to stick their account and I can still buy on Ebay as my UK debit card is still recognised for payment(when you come to click payment it gives the option pay by debit/credit card) with most sellers, some say payment by Paypal only

12 years using Paypal never one problem but then they find out I,m here for an extended period they block me.

I am trying to buy something now with my debit card but it just says can't access your PayPal acount

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

There should be a seperate box "pay by debit credit card" ignore the Paypal one

Some sellers only sell through Paypal check its not one of these

I can't see a different box and it says paypal and debit card vervifed by PayPal I read somewhere this is a bug or something

My debit card is still acknowledged by Paypal even though my account is closed.....still valid till next year...I,m guessing after that I cannot renew through them......If you have a debit/credit card still registered with Paypal U can use this...if not your sunk unless you open one here.

I have a US based Paypal account that was linked to my eBay account. Both linked to US bank account and credit cards, but I use my Thai address for delivery of anything I order whether on eBay or wherever. Never had a problem. Never asked to link it to a Thai bank account.

They're blocking people who e.g. have a UK bank card, and a UK residence address, but want the purchases to be sent to a different country, because they've been inundated with fraudulent transactions, i.e. the fraudsters are stealing the UK bank and address details. Don't ask me how, ask the fraudsters. And even if you manage to by-pass this, you'll need a UK telephone number or they won't accept your payment transaction.

Simplest way is to open a Thai bank account. BKK is convenient, but Paypal's exchange rate is pathetic.

OP : Don't you have someone in the UK who can verify the account for you?

I have an account in the Uk and I've never lived there, it was linked to my Father's credit card (both my Father and the card have expired).    I have another account in Hong Kong and I have an account here in Thailand.   Never had any issues with any of them and I log into all three from the same computer all the time.

You did the right thing, Paypal are the worst company for anyone to deal with. Better to be avoided.

According to PayPal's website you can have accounts in multiple countries, but you can only have one as a business account.

So I see no reason why you are having problems.

https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/can-i-change-my-paypal-address-to-another-country-faq1434

Note: the question and answer relates to changing the physical address on your PayPal account.  Just leave your old UK address on there or the address of a friend.   The only time I can see it being an issue is if you used a UK account to purchase a physical item and the seller will only send it to the address on the account.    But as I only ever purchase digital good this has never been an issue for me.

Are you sure about that to me it reads like I can't use my UK acount here. And they said that on the phone.

"No. The laws applicable to PayPal accounts differ by country, so you can't change your address to a country that is different from the country you used when you opened your account. If you're moving abroad, you’ll need to close your existing account and open a new account. If you maintain residences in 2 countries, you can have 2 PayPal accounts as long as only one is a Business account."

I have opened a new one here but I don't have a Thai card to link to it.

It says   "If you maintain residences in 2 countries, you can have 2 PayPal accounts as long as only one is a Business account."     They can't say you can have two accounts and then say you can't at the same time.

I had the same, when I uploaded my documents (passport page) they found out that when I opened the account over 10 years ago I was under the age of 16 at the time and so banned me for accepting the initial agreement being under age.
