webfact
100 billion baht approved for use in Thai Niyom Yang Yuen scheme FILE PHOTO BANGKOK, 23rd May 2018 (NNT) – The ministers of the three ministries spear-heading the Thai Niyom Yang Yuen project have announced the dissemination of 100 billion baht to local areas and say that 210,000 farmers are to be provided with training starting next week. Minister of the Interior Gen Anupong Paojinda made known the Cabinet has approved 100 billion baht from the central budget to be dispersed to local projects under the Thai Niyom Yang Yueng program by June '18. The Ministry of the Interior is to support 20,000 career enhancement programs and a 9 billion baht project to improve quality of life. Minister of Finance Apisak Tantiworawong said today his ministry is targeting increasing the income of those earning less than 30,000 baht a year by 20-30 percent this year via the welfare card scheme’s second phase. Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Krisada Boonrach said his office is to use 24 billion baht of the Thai Niyom Yang Yuen budget to enhance the success of plant, animal and fish farmers via 21 different programs. It is targeting 360,000 farmers and has already attracted 210,00 to attend training starting on May 28. Another 1.3 billion baht is to be used to support 203 agriculture and cooperatives institutions in their development. -- nnt 2018-05-
Popular Post Eric Loh
These pencil pushers in their air-con offices should really get their hinds off their cosy chairs and visit ground zero before they start wasting more tax payers money. The economic hardship that the farmers are facing is now. What good for them to go for training when they facing problems with putting food on the table. Didn't they get feedback that the social welfare card are not reaching the people because of inaccurate database. Get that sorted out before spending that huge 100 B. Subsidies are not a bad word which you have conjured if properly plan and is more direct to reach the intended targets. You can train the farmers and implement those re-structuring reforms when the basic needs are fulfilled. 3
Popular Post brucec64
Interesting that the current junta "government" initiated the coup to stop the previous scheme, and to end populist politics. Is it possible the junta was not telling the truth, and had an ulterior motive when overthrowing the legitimate government?

Wonderful news! So a person who earns LESS THAN 2,500 Baht a month can now look forward to making the staggering amount of an additional 500 to 750 Baht monthly under this grand scheme and after they have attended that laughable "career enhancement program"? The people affected by this windfall certainly will be dancing in the streets out of sheer joy. I don't know, isn't it a rather condemning testimony for this country that there are still hundreds of thousands of citizens around who have to make ends meet with a mere 2,500 Baht a month? I am sorry, but a solid and sustainable social welfare system is needed rather than a one-time giveaway budget that will be gone in no time.

Not much, really. Could be worse. 6 1

As ever it would depend on whose wallet or wrist. But don't worry. Those whose wallets and wrists do qualify will have known from the very start, and will be fully prepared to efficiently and effectively disburse the funds. Their efficiency and probity, as "good people" means that any sort of audit process would be superfluous, and would almost certainly be a distraction, if not actually damaging to the altruistic intentions which drive this scheme, and make it so different from all the other bung generators - sorry I meant populist redistribution policies we have seen. I hope that calms your fears... 4

Some of it might even find its way into the vegetable garden of some overpaid oik, allowing the wife to tend to her own leaks, knowing that she sits among the cabbages and peas. 1

Popular Post Chang_paarp
Looks like the election is due sooner rather than later as promised. With this huge barrel of pork to be distributed. It makes the rice scheme look a little rinky-dink.
Popular Post connda
Rice pledging 'scheme'. Niyom Yang Yuen 'scheme'. Same, same mai? Populist schemes to divert large amounts of monies from the government coffers to Buddha only-knows where. Lessons learned from living in the LOS. Anything labeled a 'scheme' is just that. And that's not necessarily a good thing. Someone's getting rich and it ain't the average Somchai. Edited May 23, 2018 by connda 7
