Non O extension to a retirement visa

Featured Replies

My current Non O extension based on marriage will expire 7 days prior to my 50th birthday. I would like to change to a retirement visa as I hear it is a much easier process.

My question is - Am I able to do this or do I have to wait until the following year? If I am able to do it how do I go about it.

Thanks..

You want to change from an extension based on marriage to an extension based on retirement.

They are both 'permits', not Visas.

1. Whether they will allow you to change being so near to your 50th birthday will be at their discretion.

(The rules state 'must be 50 years of age or over')

2. Your wife needn't attend, you won't need photos around the house, or proof of marriage, but all other documents will be the same.

3. An extension based on retirement is approved same day, no 'approval' period.

4. The financials for a retirement extension are 800K deposited in a Thai bank for at least 3 months on the date of application. OR

An Income letter from your Embassy showing a monthly income of at least 65K, OR

A combination of the two with a total showing an annual income of at least 800K.

5. You complete a TM7 (same as) but put the reason for the application as 'retirement'.

Thanks for the info. I am aware of the requirements needed for this extension. Guess I will pop down to immigration prior to expiry and ask them about the retirement extension. cheers

I don't think they will allow you to apply for the extension based upon retirement before your 50th birthday.

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife and near the end of it apply for the extension based upon retirement.

You can apply for the 60 day at your local office. Your wife will need to be with you when you apply.

If I apply for this 60 day extension and plan to leave the country and return within those 60 days, Im presuming they can issue me with a re entry stamp also? Would that be correct..

You can get a re-entry permit to keep the remainder of the 60 days valid when you enter the country using it.
