Nuttaa ‘Bow’ Mahattana flashes an anti-junta ‘three-finger salute’ at Phayathai Police Station on Thursday morning before she was taken to court.

BANGKOK — Fifteen people arrested for staging a pro-democracy demonstration earlier this week were taken Thursday to a criminal court for a custody hearing.

Their lawyer Kritsadang Nutcharus said he was told by police that investigators would ask the court to remand all the suspects – which include key leaders of the anti-junta movement – in prison while the case against them moves forward.

A bit late to call the current situation 1984, can we come up with something suitable......

Let her go before the slug wearing watches arrives.

Too late!

The cops do or the junta do? I guess it makes a lot more sense for the junta to want it and have it look like it's really the police who want it.

Go ahead - jail them. Turn them into martyrs.

Couldn't expect any less from such an abominable outfit.

I hope they get bail because they will be forgotten about quickly once they are locked up.

Out of sight, out of mind is definitely the Thai way

Disgusting treatment of decent, brave human beings - simply asking for what is every human being's God-given right: freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, freedom to elect who runs their nation.

These brave young people are being put in a prison cell where the toilet does not even work, and they have to endure the stench of ordure the whole time. “They are being treated like heinous criminals,”, says the lawyer with a conscience.

And yet the real heinous criminals are out there running wild, free and dangerous - and bloating themselves up on mountains of watches and God knows what else.

At times, this is almost too much to bear ...

Can't see it lasting forever, one day the populous will rise up, watch out then, it won't be a friendly, let's hug each other and say what good guys we are looking after your interests.

No, they've got a point. I think Nuttaa deserves a good spanking!25017101_640591999665046_402726052415143936_n.jpg

While I wouldn't disagree with you, I too have also been looking at photos of her, I see she's 39.

I was looking at the logo on her T-shirt (and the others in the group - honestly!)

It says #พลังมด - meaning Ant Power.

The judges speak for others, instead of justice. It's pathetic!

I agree entirely. Prayuth and his cronies led a coup calling for elections 4 years ago.

Lock 'em up!

Really quite sickening, the contempt that those in power treat the ordinary people, when you look at how people like Suthep are still walking free and having their say.

I don't think it is on the cards short-term, but the day will come..

Seems the police are just positioning themselves with the junta now to be in control if - and when  - they lose an election. They've never had it so good !

Side comment: apart from art. 44, the other articles used are now standard law, and can be used later by any government. Does anyone think that the yellow faction will let an opposed party govern and use this laws against them when they protest?

Whatever it takes to defend the State against the menace of smiling young ladies protesting non-violently.

So please tell what is the crime have they committed. I see an article, where hairdressers marched to save their jobs, Did they get locked up for that even though they marched? So what are the charges laid against the protestors who want free elections?
