May 29, 20188 yr NACC calls ‘urgent’ meeting on temple graft By The Nation The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will meet on Wednesday to discuss the third batch of temple-related corruption cases. NACC secretary-general Warawit Sukboon revealed on Tuesday that fellow anti-graft commissioner Surasak Keereevichien, who chairs a subcommittee investigating the third batch, had presented the matter as an urgent priority. Warawit declined to comment on whether the NACC would also be discussing the corruption cases involving high-ranking monks such as Sa Ket Temple’s Phra Phromsitti (Thongchai Sukhayano) and Samphanthawongsaram Temple’s abott Phra Phrommedhi (Chamnong Dhammajari). The two senior monks were dismissed from the Sangha Supreme Council last Thursday over allegations that they embezzled state funds for temples and Dhamma promotion. May 29, 20188 yr Popular Post What happened to the case of a powerful General who had some expensive undeclared watches?? The NACC was to have wrapped up the case by now, what happened?
May 29, 20188 yr Popular Post So the NACC has suddenly been rushed into action. Panic stations! The only explanation for that would be that somebody at the top has just realised a few junta people need protecting. Some in the upper ranks and close to the crooked monks would be my guess. The NACC is not there for any other reason other than protecting politicians, their "connected" friends and political supporters. Whitewash coming up!
May 29, 20188 yr At least a 10 year investigation. Constant work with, to be sure, no end. Insufficient evidence?

May 29, 20188 yr Years ago when we moved my wife who is quite religious in her way, shall we say, went to have a look around the Wat closest to the house was directly asked to donate 200 baht a month to the head honcho. She walked out and hasn't been near the place since.

Given what has come out from those raided so far, there appears to be significant evidence, cos it seems they are very good at siphoning, but not so good at covering their tracks. It also seems that anywhere audited, seems to be suffering the same problem, nationwide. Kids funds, Police promotions, temples, the list is endless. The watch and bling drama, though shocking, pails into insignificance with the extent of what is coming to light. Society is shown to be corrupt to its very core, and I think that even worries those at the top, who may not be entirely clean in that department themselves.

Yeah, urgent priority indeed. The backlog on these cases is huge. Some probably from the Ayuthayya period.

I feel it goes back further. 1932 probably started it, and it gathered lots of momentum after 1946 and 47. Never got reigned in. More and more people, took the proverbial P word, and today they are dealing with the consequences of that.
May 29, 20188 yr Popular Post Lets not rush these things, time needs to be made available to cover <deleted>, find scapegoats, shift blame to dead friends, fiddle the books, arrange passports etc. - Rome wasn't built in day, it takes valuable time to ensure all tracks are well covered and stories match.

May 29, 20188 yr I can't help but think that the call for urgent discussion, is to try to establish how deeply in bed with the monks thievery they actually are, and if in ripping them down, to make sure they don't tear themselves down into the process.

May 30, 20188 yr Wise senior monks should convert their ill-got gains into high-end watches and claim the watches were donated to the temple by deceased followers. All would be forgiven and buried.
